Outstanding Early Kitchen with Unique French Stove and all Original Contents
This early dove-tailed wooden kitchen has natural wood finish on the exterior, original painted interior walls and original painted red and cream checkerboard floor. This Nuremberg kitchen was proposed for the French market, with its exceptional French model stove instead of the traditional Nuremberg built-in oven and chimney.
This early cast iron stove is wonderful, unique with all its accessories. It is almost impossible to find such antique French stove with its chimney and its two cast-iron framed holes fitted with original handled griddles and original pots. This stove with its front opening firewood door, its large hearth with slide-out hearth plate and its manufacturing are typical of the stoves manufactured in the past by the French iron foundries in the northeast of France. The decorative molded floral motives, lyres and the central mythological face, are typical of the first half of the nineteenth century. A similar stove, with missing parts only one grid, no pots and no chimney, is presented in a French Antique stoves museum.
The stove is 8 1/8"(20.5 cm) large, 8 1/4"(21 cm) deep and 5 7/8"(15 cm) high without the pots and the chimney.
The kitchen has extensive original accessories, utensils and dishes fixed on walls or staying on dove-tailed furniture.
The plate rack contains a large collection of early pewter tableware, including open pitchers, various plates, bols, soup bowls, a set of stacking covered dishes, a covered tureen, a glass cheese cover and more. Two salt boxes fixed on the wall complete this 42 pewter pieces collection. The well-laden wall on the right contains a 15 pieces collection of copper kitchenware, including molds with shell design, various bowls and flat pie tins, a tray, two unusual water jars with handle. On the back wall, around the stove, are fixed a lot of metal kitchen tools, including various sieves, strainers and funnels, skillets, a slicer and a cleaver with wooden handle, a wooden mallet, a wire whisk, and more. An iron on its support is in front of the stove.
To complete this rich contents, you have various wicker baskets including a rare model carrying three deep double-handled porcelain bowls (one with accident), an egg rack and a set of tragant miniature foods including breads, a French baguette, two pears and fried eggs.
The kitchen is 13 "(33 cm) high, 24 1/4"(61.5 cm) wide, 14 1/8"(36 cm) deep.
