Exceptional Early French Salon with Day Bed - By Louis Badeuille.

Of lightwood with natural finish, this antique dollhouse furniture is decorated with gilt paper to simulate inlay designs.

This set is particular by its very thin sides of the chairs. We need time to appreciate it, to look at the light difference between each piece due to the hand-made fabrication of the craft man. With this set, we are coming back in the past.

In the 18th century, in France for the upper class of the population it was common use to have a day bed in the reception room . The day bed was arranged in the reception room with the intention of giving an impression of splendor, power and magnificence. During the reign of King Louis XIV, the main furniture of splendor was the bed and the armchair.

The four armchairs with floral upholstery and gilt paper edging are matched with a small canopy day bed with its original lace canopy, bed cover and pillow. The gilded canopy support is articulated so the lace falls with the right shape. The early pedestal table with superb decoupage trim is well-shaped.

Bed 5 5/8"(14.2 cm) high, 3 3/4"(9.5 cm) wide, chair 4 1/8"(10.5 cm) high, table 3 3/4"(9.5 cm) long,2 1/2"(6.5 cm) wide.
